Consultation
Consultation for College Counseling Centers and Student Affairs Divisions
The problem:
Counseling Center administrators are often overworked and many do not have the time, or staff member support, to get to non-urgent administrative tasks, like developing policy and procedure manuals, completing chart reviews, and optimizing center processes. Too often, these long-term goals are set aside for completion over the summer, but when summer comes around, new urgent tasks get in the way, year after year. This is where I come in! In addition to my private practice, I have a small consulting practice, working with university and college counseling centers to provide outside perspective and assist with administrative tasks.
My solution:
I am that rare breed of psychologist who enjoys both the emotion-focused side of our work AND the organizational, structural, detail-oriented side of administration and record-keeping. Let me help you and your center by taking some of these administrative tasks off your hands.
My consultation practice focuses on assisting student affairs divisions and counseling centers with projects such as:
· developing policies and procedures
· reviewing best practices in record keeping
· streamlining referral practices
· defining scope-of-service
· improving crisis management
· onboarding adjunctive services like ProtoCall, Thriving Campus and You@College.
· transitioning electronic health records.
If you have legal concerns about policies at your center, I have worked closely with attorneys experienced in this area and can make referrals as needed.
My experience:
I have trained and worked in seven different colleges and universities, in roles from trainee to director. I also had the unique experience of founding a counseling center for a small public university. As a result of these experiences, I’m well prepared to help you and your staff with a variety of counseling center problems.
My years of experience in college counseling have taught me that student affairs divisions -- and counseling centers specifically -- carry a tremendous burden for the college. Our centers must use limited resources to meet the mental health needs of as many students as possible, all while supporting overburdened staff members and managing risk to the college. Let me help you navigate these competing demands.
